The “Smart City Applications and Strategic Planning Trainings in Local Governments” program was organized between 04-07 August 2024 within the scope of the Urban Development Program in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Konya Metropolitan Municipality and TIKA. A high-level delegation of 16 people, including 1 deputy minister, 1 prime ministry advisor and 14 mayors and officials from Iraq, attended the program, and trainings were given, presentations and promotions were made about Konya’s Smart City studies.

A certificate ceremony was held for all guests who attended the trainings at TIKA headquarters with the participation of TIKA Vice President Dr. Rahman NURDUN, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Geographic Information Systems Deputy Director General Dr. Akın KISA, and Konya Metropolitan Municipality officials. Following a presentation on TIKA’s Iraq activities at the certificate ceremony, officials on behalf of the institutions and participants on behalf of the Iraqi delegation made speeches and the program ended with the delivery of certificates and a souvenir photo shoot. Representatives from each institution gave short interviews for Iraqi Television.
